Top teams from around the world will clash in the first official Fortnite LAN since the World Cup!
In-person Fortnite competition was brought to a sudden standstill when the COVID pandemic rendered large gatherings of all descriptions unsafe. Though sports matches, concerts, and other Esports tournaments have since returned, Epic Games has been more cautious.
However, at the beginning of Sunday’s EU FNCS Finals broadcast, long-time hosts Zeke and Sundown made a huge announcement. Fortnite is back on LAN!
The FNCS Invitational 2022 is scheduled for November 12 and 13 this year. It will take place by Epic’s HQ, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
A massive $1,000,000 prize pool is up for grabs, split between a single Duos lobby. Plus, players finally get the chance to prove that they can hold their nerve in-person.
Only the best FNCS Duos from each region will be invited. They’ll likely want to get this done early to give people time to prepare, but you may still be in with a shot if you pop off in next season’s FNCS.
Epic did add that any pros expecting an invite should proactively sort out travel documentation such as passports, visas and vaccination cards as soon as possible to avoid problems later on. You can view the USA’s travel requirements for non-U.S. citizens here.
It’s worth noting that no mention was made of tickets for spectators, suggesting that there probably won’t be a live audience. Further information will be released in the coming months.
While some fans were hopeful for a World Cup announcement, this is still exciting news. Not only will the FNCS Invitational be awesome to watch, it’s a sign that bigger events could be in the works for the future.
Can’t wait till then? The DreamHack Fortnite Open LAN in Sweden is coming up real soon!
