Fortnite’s latest addition will have you decimating opponents even quicker than before.
Another week, another Fortnite patch. It truly feels like we are back in the Chapter 1 days with new items, maps changes and more dropping so consistently.
Today’s update introduces one of the most enigmatic weapons in Fortnite history. Following countless leaks, and a whole lot of confusion, the Machine Pistol is finally available in both Battle Royale and Creative.
Not all to dissimilar to the Stinger SMG, this new gun boasts high damage and high fire rate at close range. Its extended magazine size and fast reload time also makes the Machine Pistol perfect for applying pressure to healing enemies.
Though it can be useful at distance too, the damage drop off is fairly significant. Upon testing it out, popular streamer SypherPK suggested that whereas many players run a Stinger and no Assault Rifle, this may not be a viable option with the Machine Pistol.
Looking to give it a go yourself? The Machine Pistol can be found in Chests, Supply Drops and Sharks, as well as from floor loot and fishing.
To the relief of competitive fans, this weapon will not feature in Arena and tournament playlists, at least initially… Machine Pistols will be subject to the standard evaluation period so could potentially be added later.
In a season already dominated by all things spray, this introduction feels like a double down from Epic. Having been unvaulted and upgraded in last week’s v19.20 patch, the Heavy Shotgun remains the best counter for those who prefer to use Shotguns.
