Read about everything new in Fortnite v17.50. Keep an eye out for Aliens, the Invasion is at its peak!

The Fortnite v17.50 patch is now live and servers are back up. With less than two weeks of Season 7 remaining, this will potentially be one of the final updates before the Invasion draws to a dramatic close.

Following months of non-stop content, this latest build is a bit more relaxed as Epic begin to wind down and prepare for what is to come. Nonetheless, we still have some POI changes and a UI rework to look out for.

Wild Week 3: High Tech Hijinks

High Tech Hijinks, the penultimate Wild Week of the season, kicks off at 10AM ET this Thursday. As the name suggests, this one is all about making the most of the advanced Alien and IO technology before it’s gone.

Abductor ships will no longer stock any standard weaponry, instead carrying only the Kymera Ray Gun, Grab-itron, Prop-ifier, and Alien Nanites. The IO has responded in kind, and their Chests will exclusively hold Pulse Rifles, Rail Guns, Plasma Cannons, and Inflate-A-Bulls.

To make this futuristic kit even more abundant, the Kymera Ray Gun, Pulse Rifle and Rail Gun will also be available from normal Chests. To compliment Wild Week 3, two new Legendary Chest Chains will ask you to deal damage either with Alien weapons or IO weapons. Go grab that last minute XP!

Map Changes

The Alien Mothership has homed in on its final target for abduction. Throughout the week, Corny Complex will go through the same stages of destruction that we have previously seen at Coral Castle and Slurpy Swamp.

Speaking of Slurpy, the POI is now looking more run down than ever and has been renamed to Sludgy Swamp. The surrounding water no longer has healing properties and there is still a real lack of loot.

Updated Select Game Mode Screen

Epic has introduced a new way to shuffle between different playlists and “discover your next favorite game or experience in Fortnite”. The menu combines standard modes like Solos and Duos with a selection of Creative maps and LTMs.

Rather than having to go through the hassle of loading into the Creative Hub and looking for something interesting to try, you can now search through categories such as “Deathruns” and “Zone Wars” to find what you’re after. The tags found under map names will give you a better idea of what to expect.

Alternatively, head over to the “Featured” section and hop into a fresh recommended game mode. If you come across one you really enjoy, favorite it to save it to your library.
