We are just hours away from the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 7. To help you prepare for takeoff, we have put together a brief summary of all the important information, teasers and a couple of interesting leaks that don’t give too much away.

When does it start?

Though Epic are yet to confirm the official schedule, we can make an educated guess based on past seasons. Server downtime will likely begin at 02:00 AM ET (06:00 UTC) and last for at least a few hours.

The time above coincides with the premiere of the Season 7 Story and Battle Pass trailers on YouTube, which is generally when downtime commences. We will update this article with the final time when Epic Games announce it.

Note: The @FortniteStatus Twitter account has now confirmed that downtime will begin at 2 AM ET (06:00 UTC).

Theme

It’s no secret that in some way or another, aliens will have a significant impact on Fortnite Season 7. Following the v16.50 patch, players started being abducted by UFOs and teleported to different parts of Island.

A series of teasers on social media have given further clues as to some of the weapons, items and collaborations to look out for. Fans are also working to crack a sequence of cryptic codes in the Fortnite Discord server for more hints.

Map Changes

Barring the massive flood in Season 3, Epic has been fairly tame with map changes throughout Chapter 2. Many locations remain the same or else just slightly reworked, and the evolution of the Island has felt fairly slow.

Having seen the amount of effort that has gone into publicizing the new season, many people are hoping for something crazy. Summer seasons typically tend to be a bit more adventurous, so we could be in for a real treat.

In terms of what we know so far, we can certainly expect the “Primal” zones in the middle of the map to be replaced. Aside from Neo Tilted and Mega Mall, Fortnite has never really experimented with a fully futuristic theme, so this could be the time to do it.

A recent promo video for the Orelia skin shows a cave with a large skull at the opening, which may point towards the return of The Grotto. Additionally, players noticed that the surrounding area is sandy, potentially suggesting a new biome.

Weapons

Each of the Season 7 teaser graphics posted to social media appears to showcase an upcoming alien weapon. While some of these resemble guns from the Save the World PvE mode, others are brand-new.

If extraterrestrials takeover the Island and bring their advanced equipment, this could be the first time ever that the Fortnite loot pool completely changes. Staple weapons like the Assault Rifle and Pump/Tactical Shotguns may be switched for a selection of high-tech blasters and plasma cannons.

Leakers have already confirmed that Makeshift weapons will be removed, however the crafting system is set to stay. This means that crafting could be used for upgrading, sidegrading or transforming these new firearms.

The teasers feature a collection of more mysterious looking items too. For example, todays’s video displays a robot from popular TV show Rick and Morty. Based on the accompanying text, dataminer @HYPEX has guessed that this will be a new type of loot crate.

Speaking of loot crates, @HYPEX also mentioned that a trusted source has told him that Llamas will receive an update soon. No more was said to avoid spoilers, but he added “Season 7 is gonna be REALLY good!”.

So, it certainly sounds like we have a lot to look forward to. Now all that’s left to do is squeeze in those last few matches before downtime, and get ready for something awesome!
