A critical bug has plagued Fortnite’s competitive lobbies. Here’s how you can avoid becoming a victim
Exploits have been plaguing video games since the very beginning. Game developers failing to accommodate for edge cases leads to some weird, cool, or most likely, frustrating side effects
The current exploit running rampant within Fortnite’s competitive circles revolves around the “shakedown” feature. Knocking a player while his teammate(s) is still alive gives you the ability to shake the opponent down. Remaining players are temporarily pinned with a red mark, revealing their locations
But players on the receiving end of a knockdown can engage in an incredibly spiteful exploit while being shaken down. Basically, if a player leaves the match while being shaken down, the player shaking down gets automatically disconnected
Pro players found to have done this over the past week have received temporary bans. High profile players like Bully have recently been put on blast for engaging in this lowly behaviour
If Toose got 1 week ban, Bully needs to be next. Epic needs to be consistent. from r/FortniteCompetitive
Other pros have pushed back in defense of Bully. Cented pointed out the circumstances surrounding Bully leaving was most likely due to trying to queue into one last game
2 min 30 sec when they left - no chance his intent was to dodge the shakedown, was probably more so to get the last game considering they got another game right after

Regardless if intentional or not, there’s room for bad actors to troll and act against competitive integrity. The only way you can avoid the exploit is to not shake down anyone until Epic releases a patch
At this point, so many people already know about the exploit that you have to err on the side of caution
We’ll update you guys when Fortnite releases a fix on Twitter
