Get your popcorn at the ready, it’s movie night down at the Island!

Following leaks from the Fortnite v15.40 patch, Epic Games has officially announced the debut of the Short Nite Film Festival. The event will start February 20 at 2 PM ET, and run until the same time on February 21.

Short Nite will feature 12 animated short films from around the world, with the full series lasting approximately 30 minutes. These shorts will run continuously for 24 hours, giving you plenty of opportunities to hop in and enjoy.

The acclaimed list boasts several award winners, including winners of the Academy Awards, BAFTAs and Emmys. One of the newer titles is Bench, which is currently long-listed for a BAFTA.

To watch the films, players simply need to load into Fortnite’s Party Royale game mode. It’s hard to miss the Big Screen, but if you are having trouble, Epic has a handy guide to help you find it.

At 7 PM ET on February 19, the new Jumbo Popcorn Emote arrives in the Item Shop. This supersized bucket will have you feeling like you’re really at the cinema, check it out below:

Subtitles in your preferred language are available for any shorts containing dialogue. Just go to your Audio Settings in-game and enable subtitles to turn them on.

Party Royale events like this became a regular occurrence last year, further increasing Fortnite’s cultural reach. It will be exciting to see what other projects Epic Games has planned for 2021 from the worlds of music, film and more.
