Finally, Epic listened to their community on one of the most infuriating “quality of life” features in the building blueprint. Here’s what’s to come
One of the most highly requested features from the competitive community is the ability to toggle off “pre-edits.” What are pre-edits exactly? I’m glad you asked
Pre-edits are the ability to pre-generate your building type to a different shape than the default building structure. If you want your wall to always place with a door in the middle, for example, you can do that
While this seems like a neat feature to have, it actually causes a lot more complications for competitive players. When you’re completing so many actions per second -- between building, editing, and shooting -- you end up accidentally pre-editing one of your four building structures here and there
The next time you go to build a wall -- BOOM, triangles everywhere. Now you’re panicking, trying to find an open area to reset your pre-edit and a soccer skinned sweatball barrels into your personal area to land a one-tap shotgun shot to the pucker
SypherPK was among the first to report the beautifully refreshing news on Twitter\
There will be an option to disable pre-edits in Fortnite tomorrow. This is AMAZING, especially for higher ping players! ??

It seems that Sypher was able to establish some form of communication with the competitive Fortnite team to coordinate this update. Fortnite’s competitive Twitter page quoted Sypher’s comment and confirmed his report

Pro players took a collective sigh of relief as this feature has effectively been two years in the making. Some players thanked Fortnite for finally coming around; others are looking forward to more competitive tweaks like custom building and editing sensitivity for keyboard and mouse suggested by Chap
cant wait for building and edit sens!

In a reply, Sypher also reported that the next gen consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X) will unlock 120 frames-per-second capabilities. The initial patch when these consoles were dropped had the cap locked to 60
Note of advice to console gamers looking to make the upgrade to 120hz: make sure you set your monitor to the correct hz. If you fail to manually update, the default setting could be still at 60. It took me a year to figure that one out myself
The new patch is looking to be a very promising one for the competitive community. We’ll be keeping you updated with all the new things that will arrive tonight
