Next week, the One Percent Cup will see duos fight it out for cash prizes in one of the most intriguing formats we’ve seen so far.

Following drama earlier this year, popular creators Kiwiz, Randumb, Formula and Nicks split from Luminosity Gaming with plans of starting their own org. In July, they revealed One Percent, a one of a kind gaming and lifestyle brand, headquartered at their self-funded, multimillion-dollar mansion.

Now, One Percent has teamed up with Epic Games to put on their very own Fortnite tournament. Third-party events like this often fly under the radar, but the scoring system alone makes this one worth a look.

The One Percent Duos Cup takes place November 17, and occurs across two sessions. Players will have 3 hours to complete a maximum of 10 games, with the top 1% of teams progressing to round 2.

It will only run on NA East and NA West servers, but if you’re in another region and can handle the high ping you can still compete. However, be warned, if you are playing from outside the US, you could be in for a very late night.

You must register here to unlock the One Percent Cup in-game. This page should also display the schedule in your local time.

Scoring System

This is by far the most placement heavy format we have ever seen. With kills worth so little, it’s all about making smart rotations, getting storm surge tags and making it to end-game. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.

If the One Percent Cup goes well, we could see Epic further experiment with this sort of points system in official competition. With the game mode for next season’s FNCS still unknown, these sorts of events offer a low-pressure environment to practice and have fun.

Be sure to check out the full official rules and load up the tournament leaderboard to keep track of how you are doing.
