A new Fortnite blog regarding Party Royale may have just leaked an anticipated Fortnite event: the Fortnite World Cup

Earlier today, Fortnite announced a new partnership with BTS in a brand new iteration of Party Royale. The series spotlights different popular artists and has historically seen creators like Travis Scott hit the main stage

Take a look at the introduction video that was posted to the main Fortnite channel. It’s incredibly well produced and I look forward to see what kind of immersive display Epic Games puts on for us this time

But the Party Royale announcement isn’t what the competitive players are fixated on. Instead, an image posted within the Party Royale Blog unintentionally leaked some interesting information regarding future tournaments

In the background of the instructions on how to join the event, an Epic Games employee showed a snapshot of the “featured game modes” that are in rotation. Here is the screenshot he posted:

Two competitive game modes

While you can see the typical core and competitive game modes featured above Party Royale, two new events were on his screen: World Cup (Duos) and Arena Boxfight

Interestingly, we previously reported that Arena Boxfight was found within the game files and is slated to release sometime in the near future. This offers much more legitimacy to the fact that World Cup Duos might be within our horizons - even if a little while out

With the entire situation revolving COVID-19 rapidly evolving, we don’t know the outlook of in person LANs for 2021. Maybe they could be gearing up for another huge online tournament?

The competitive Fortnite team already talked about their cancelled World Cup 2020 plans and intentions to try again when the time is right. With new graphics already being tested in the game files - could we be closer than previously thought towards another World Cup?
