Epic Games have made some adjustments to throwables in Arena and Tournament playlists.
The Fortnite Champion Series Solos qualifiers get underway on Saturday, and the developers have implemented some heavily requested changes. These modifications will only affect competitive game modes.
Popular Fortnite caster and analyst Arten “Ballatw” Esa confirmed the news in a recent tweet. Balla referenced Matt “Loomin”, Competitive Producer at Epic, as his source.
Stink availability is being reduced, grenades are being removed. Hallelujah. Already done in Arena, tomorrow for tournaments.

Firstly, Grenades are being removed completely from competitive playlists. This actually happened last season too, but they came back at the beginning of Season 3.
In both Solos and team modes, correctly throwing a stack of nades on a boxed-up enemy can result in an easy free kill. With the right set-up, the victim will have almost no warning of the impending doom and be unable to escape to safety.
The other item impacted by these changes is the Stink Bomb. After a long spell in the Fortnite vault, stinks returned in the hands of this season’s controversial gimmick, the Marauders.
Whilst the Marauders will still potentially drop stinks when eliminated, there won’t be quite as many. This nerf will be especially welcomed in the Trio Cash Cups.

Previously, a team of three could easily get hold of six stinks each. This meant that, no matter how many times a player tried to re-box to avoid the toxic yellow gas, their opponents could just keep throwing them.
These adjustments have been met with praise from the competitive Fortnite community. However, some people are concerned that with the leaked Atlantis POI set to emerge very soon, another overpowered mythic weapon could soon be introduced.
