The first trio competition of Fortnite Season 3 saw things get heated between some of the most popular teams.
With the new Fortnite season came a whole lot of map changes, forcing many players to rethink their drop spots. Having planned on landing at The Grotto, which is now fully submerged in water, Tfue, Scoped and Innocents had to find somewhere else.
The trio decided on Catty Corner, a new POI which is home to Kit and his Mythic Shotgun and Shockwave Launcher. Perhaps unhappy with the current layout of Sweaty Sands, and also with their eyes on this game winning loot, Zayt, Saf and Stretch chose to contest.
During the first couple weeks of practice, the two teams fought off spawn, each trying to make the other back down. On Saturday, the Intel NUC Elite Cup provided the first real trio event of the season and a chance to see who came out on top at Catty.

Shortly before the tournament started, Zayt announced that his team would be landing at the nearby weather station. However, this didn’t mean that Tfue had the drop to himself, as a trio from NAW also wanted some of the action.
After losing some 50/50 battles, being third-partied by Zayt and failing to make it to late game, Scoped and co didn’t have enough points and were eliminated early from the competition. Zayt, Saf and Stretch went on to take 4th place overall.
Feeling cheated, Tfue’s trio accused Zayt of stream-sniping. They claimed that he was only pushing into Catty when he knew they were a man down or weak, something which would be hard to judge from atop a mountain. Innocents also mentioned that members of the NAW team had been spotted in his Twitch viewer list during the Elite Cup.

The issue with competitive Fortnite is, there really is no way to know whether allegations like these are true. Zayt didn’t seem to care though, his whole trio promptly took to Twitter to troll Tfue.
Zayt posted an image of the tournament leaderboard, showing the top 8 and then Scoped, Innocents and Tfue in 27th. Saf added “imagine being worried you’re in last place of a tournament”. The only response was from Scoped, who simply tweeted, “Fortnite community is so cringe”.
With Trio Cash Cups starting in July, and Trio FNCS scheduled for Season 4, there will be plenty more twists and turns in this story. Perhaps as the map’s water levels drop, more locations will become available, but these are two teams that don’t like to surrender.
