The idea of power-ups in Fortnite is an intriguing prospect. No doubt they would help to spice the game up, but do they belong in a Battle Royale?

Whether you’re after far-out theories, captivating concepts or marvellous memes, the r/FortNiteBR subreddit is the place to be. One suggestion from Reddit user u/itsstantrix has really got people thinking.

They designed a selection of possible power-ups, which could add a whole new dimension to Fortnite gameplay. In order to keep things balanced, each power-up features both a positive and a negative effect. For example, “Storm Survivor” would grant players increased movement speed when in the storm, but they would not be able to use weapons during this time.

I tried to come up with some non-OP powerups. What are your thoughts on these? from r/FortNiteBR

How exactly these power-ups would work wasn’t detailed. They could be found in-game, either activated instantly or picked up for later use. This then poses the question of how they would fit into a Fortnite player’s inventory.

From damage boosts to double jumping, the possibilities for different power-ups are endless. Whilst the ideas shared by u/itsstantrix were specifically created not to be too powerful, it’s hard to imagine Epic taking the same approach.

Many would argue that there is no place for power-ups in a Battle Royale, but the Fortnite developers are well known for pushing the limits of the genre. Although I don’t think they belong in core game modes, they would certainly make for a fantastic LTM.
