Tfue shows game-breaking bullet blanking problem in Fortnite

Bullets blanking in Fortnite is nothing new, we’ve all hit what we thought was an insane shotgun shot just to have it deal no damage. But right now, performance issues like this are at an all time low.

No, it doesn’t just mean you missed your shot. Players have been experiencing “ghost hitmarkers”, where their shot connects but doesn’t hurt their opponent, since early in Fortnite Chapter 1. During a recent stream, Turner “Tfue” Tenney missed out on multiple potential eliminations as a result of the bug.

In the clip, you can see Tfue expertly tracking his opponents with the Brutus’ deadly Minigun. Whilst weapon bloom means that not every shot is going to hit, in this situation, he got multiple blanks. “I’m blanking man, I’m just blanking bro!” Tfue shouted in annoyance.

Back at the beginning of March, Epic Games announced that they would be “working to address performance issues impacting both clients and servers” before hosting any cash prized events. This has obviously been harder than anticipated, especially amidst the sudden impact of a global pandemic.

Sadly, at the moment, players both competitive and casual are still incredibly disappointed with Fortnite’s performance. On top of this problem with bullets blanking, there are complaints of builds not placing and edits not confirming, as well as regular stutters and crashes. In a Battle Royale with as many complex variables as Fortnite, it’s never going to be completely smooth sailing, but hopefully we will see some improvements soon.
