Heading towards the long weekend, many are going to be focused on enjoying themselves. For some, however, they will be continuing the grind of Season Four. In this week's Fortnite Spotlight we focus on Trizz. Trizz is currently ranked #5 in TRN Rating.
JBeck: Introduce yourself.
Trizz: Hi, my name is Macon. I’m 18 years old and go by iTrizz on Twitch.
JBeck: When did you start playing video games?
Trizz: I started playing video games at a very young age. I was around 4 years old, Simpsons Hit and Run came out and that was the very first video game I had ever played. Simpsons hit and run was by far my favorite video game until I was about 10, then CoD MW2 came out and I fell in love with the CoD series.
JBeck: What was the first game you began to take seriously?
Trizz: When I was 11 I found Counter Strike Source. I first just started to play in casually on my Mom’s desktop computer and then slowly and slowly started to get more involved in the competitive scene. About 2 years later, CS:GO was released on steam and I switched to that. Within the first year of its release it had grown exponentially and leagues had started to get announced. My team competed in the first ESEA Main league for CSGO.
JBeck: When you made the switch to Fortnite? What stood out to you?
Trizz: I started playing Fortnite back when it released it’s BR mode back in last September. The thing that really stood out to me was the building. It’s funny because back then, nobody ever even thought of building when they were fighting someone, they just build crazy big bases and fought in them. I noticed later on a couple months later that you could actually do a lot with building so I took that and started putting it into fighting and it all started to make sense.
JBeck: What stands out to you about Battle Royal games versus other genres?
Trizz: I believe BR games show true skill. Be it building, shooting, or overall game sense and level of thinking that goes into winning games consistently.
JBeck: Which game mode felts the most comfortable to you?
Trizz: I think solos feels best to me. I think that because I feel like it shows individual skill and the ability to win games. I think solos/duos should be the competitive modes in Fortnite, not squads.
JBeck: There was a big jump from Season 3 to Season 4 in terms of your quality games and ability. What do you attribute that to?
Trizz: In every new season, players start camping for whatever reason. So I play to counter that, be it taking a fight with a player that is sitting in a 1 by 1 in the center of the zone, or taking long range AR shots at a player so they can push me and I can kill them. However, this has also made me start playing a little slower and more passive.
JBeck: What do you think your specialties lie?
Trizz: I think with the combination of my shot plus my building is powerful and that's why I win most of my build fights that I get into. It’s taken me a long time to get as far as I’ve come but practice and experience in certain situations makes everything a lot easier.
JBeck: From game to game have you changed your playstyle? Based on your stats, you seem to be gaining more confidence in yourself as a player leading to more kills per game.
Trizz: I have changed the amount of fights I choose to take per game. You can win very easily, simply by taking no fights at all. However, I stream, so it would be really boring for my viewers to see me just avoiding literally everyone. There are certain times where I might walk right past someone and not choose to shoot them, more than likely that occurs because I don’t have the materials/meds to even consider fighting a player that looks like he/she knows what they’re doing.
JBeck: How do you keep your win % above 60% ? That must be a hard achievement.
Trizz: I never land in spots that could lead to me dying to RNG. For example, if the plane is cutting straight across the map horizontally above tilted, I never land anywhere horizontally aligned/above tilted towers. I would typically always try to land south of salty springs or near fatal fields. It also comes down to the amount of fights I choose to take per match. I probably take anywhere from 7-15 fights per game. Most of the time those fights are taken late game when I have the resources that allow me to build, heal, and shoot.
JBeck: What is your normal loadout?
Trizz: AR (Blue AR/Scar) Shotgun(Pump) Shotgun(Pump/Heavy) 2 Med slots(Shield/Med Kit)
JBeck: With the money Epic will be placing into tournament competitions, do you see yourself entering these tournaments? If not/so why?
Trizz: I do see myself entering these tournaments and playing for a team in the near future. I just really hope Epic does something about the squad mode being the main eSport mode in Fortnite. I think most of the competitive scene in Fortnite currently don’t agree with Squads and would rather see solo/duo being the main mode.
JBeck: Do you think Fortnite is ready to become an E-sport?
Trizz: I do believe it is ready. There are already so many people doing scrims/tournaments being locally hosted by big names in the community.
JBeck: What are your continued goals as you play Fortnite?
Trizz: I still really love playing Fortnite, and plan on continue playing it for as long as I can. As I stated before, I want to join some sort of Organization, and for the time being I am grinding leaderboards in hope to be seen and getting recognition.
