This new Limited Time Mode (LTM) sounds great on paper, but there are a few problems.

As part of Fortnite’s collaboration with Marvel for Season 4, Epic have designed a selection of unique custom game modes.

Starting with the Marvel Knockout LTM which went down a hit, these modes give players the chance to use mythic abilities like Wolverine’s Claws and She-Hulk’s Fists to take down their enemies.

On Friday, the Marvel Standoff LTM went live in-game. Check out the official description below:

Two large teams grab powers that fall from the sky and fight to be the last team standing!

Respawn when eliminated until you run out of extra lives. You will get 2 extra lives so make them count! The first team to run out loses.

Sounds fun right? Well a lot of people are actually finding the gameplay a bit stale.

The issue is that there isn’t enough action. People are playing super passively because of the 3-lives limit, so you don’t spend much time fighting and using the cool hero abilities.

In a lot of matches, it seems that one team ends up with a huge numbers advantage. The last couple of players on the losing side often choose to hide, leaving their opponents running around aimlessly for 5 minutes.

Popular suggestions from the community are to make the safe zone smaller or number of lives higher to incentivize action. We will have to wait and see if Epic agrees that something needs to change.
